The simple things in life… they’re the ones that get me every time. A tree standing tall, its branches stretching towards the sky like open arms. Tiny bugs buzzing about, living their best lives without a care in the world. Grass swaying in the breeze, like a gentle dance. And the creatures! Birds singing sweet melodies, squirrels scampering about with joy in their eyes. They live life without the weight of thoughts, like we do.
When I take the time to notice and appreciate these simple things, I feel my mind unburdening itself of the weight I’ve been carrying. My worries fade away, like leaves blown away by the wind. I feel light as a feather, free to simply be. It’s like a warm embrace, enveloping me in a sense of peace and tranquility.
Let’s all take a moment to stop, to look around, to soak it all in. Let the beauty of simple things sweep our minds away, and let us unburden our minds of the heavy weight we’ve been carrying. Trust me, it’s worth it. Let’s let go of our worries and simply be, like the trees, the bugs, the grass, and the creatures. Let’s bask in the wonder and magic of the world around us, and feel our souls soar.
The Peace of Wild Things
Wendell Berry
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
